This week, we were tasked with completing what is otherwise known as a photoblitz! This is a cool concept, where you are given a list of photos to take that agree with the “prompt”. Each computer (? I guess?) is given a different list of things to photograph. A blitz is only 20 minutes long, so you get as many as you can within that time frame.  In order to make sure that it is exactly only 20 minutes long, you are required to take a picture of the time when you begin and end.

Here is the list that was created for me:

  • take a picture that looks better in black and white than color
  • a pair of photos with some sort of symmetry between different objects
  • take pictures of yourself imitating some classic rage faces
  • take a picture that reminds you of your childhood
  • take a picture of a shadow in a way that makes it difficult to identify the object
  • take a picture of rocks
  • let your photo make a statement

Here is a collage of the photos I took. The collage is meant to be read left to right, top to bottom.  The pictures are in the order as listed above, with time being the first and last photo.

Collage Photoblitz

I ran out of time before I could complete two of the prompts:

  • Let your photo make a statement
  • take a picture of a shadow in a way that makes it difficult to identify the object

I included them in the collage anyway, but I found it difficult to find examples of all of these! Especially in only 20 minutes!!

I liked this assignment and would do it again, but I wish I had had just another 5 minutes!
